MORE ON FIELD SUCCESS/CLUB DAY

25 Aug 2022

Dear all,

Pleased to report on more on-field success for our senior sides to follow-on from the great season our Junior teams had.

On Sunday, our second team comprising 9 U18s and two "responsible adults" (messrs Brando and Solomons snr) beat a strong Harefield side by 85 runs and thereby secured promotion from Chess Valley League Div 4 in only our second season in the competition. Particular mentions to Brando for his 112, Jack Davis 87*, Harry Davis 3 wickets and Joseph Boyask marking his senior debut with a great catch.

At the same time, the firsts were winning a closely fought game against Headstone Manor by 4 runs (304-4 vs 300-5 off 35 overs) which secured our position in Division 1 of the Chess Valley League for another season - no mean feat. The game featured a massive opening stand between Dan Grus (110) and Adam Spooner (91), plus a Vale debut for Jarren Bacher, grandson of the South African cricketing/administrator great Ali Bacher.

Finally, a reminder that Monday coming (29th August) is Club Day. Those who have signed up for the junior/parents tournament please be at Potters Bar CC for 9am and reminder that lunch and awards will be taking place straight after and all spectators v welcome. We are NOT charging this year thanks to the kind sponsorship provided by Maccabi London Brady Recreational Trust (Rowley Lane).

There are also two more friendlies to play on 4 and 11 September, so please make yourselves available for those in the usual way.

Best regards,

Alex Haffner
